2018 Blueberry Maple Might Meets Right
Wild Yeast Detected in 2018 Blueberry Maple Might Meets Right
We regret to report that the 2018 Blueberry Maple Might Meets Right appears to have picked up a wild yeast strain, most likely from the maple barrels the beer aged in. The effects of the wild yeast include the beer refermenting in the can and tangy/sour off-flavors.
Cans which have not been refrigerated are more susceptible to these effects than those that have been kept cold. All kegs should be fine, since they are refrigerated. Regardless, it’s not a health or safety issue, just a quality issue.
The other three 2018 variants did not have any wild yeast detected in the samples.
If you purchased a can of 2018 Blueberry Maple Might Meets Right, here are your options:
1) Come to the Tap Room (2000 Dempster St in Evanston) during business hours, bring your opened (and empty) or unopened can(s) of Blueberry Maple and we will happily swap for a can (or cans) of another variant of your choosing.
2) OR, we can refund you the Tap Room purchase price of $8.75 per can.
3) OR, we will give you a $10 Temperance gift card for each can.
We would like to thank the loyal and savvy Temperance Beer fans who brought this issue to our attention, and we want to let everyone know we are taking steps to prevent this type of event from happening in the future. We are very sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment you have experienced as a result.
